Would You Take a Bullet for Jesus?
We as the body of Christ are in the most dangerous time of church history. Where are the great leaders? Where are the inspirational women and men of God? Many of you may have heard of David Wilkerson. David was a mighty man of God. David came to prominence in the 1950s and 1960s when he met a young man called Nicky Cruz who was a leader of one of the most notorious gangs in New York. If you know the testimony or you have read the book The Cross and the Switchblade, you will have seen that David was prepared to die for Christ.
I once asked a church that I was ministering in, would you take a bullet for Jesus? Unfortunately many today would not. Jesus tells us very clearly in Mark 8:35, “Whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it.” Even the Apostle Paul says in Scripture that he was poured out as drink offering. Many of the disciples were executed for the sake of the gospel.
Sadly many have accepted a candy-coated gospel. We do not hear much today about the second coming of Christ. We have churchmen who are saying this will never happen. We have churchmen who are denying the resurrection, the virgin birth. We have prosperity teachers teaching that all God wants you to do is to get rich. But there are still some of us who believe we should be warning the people of this world that God is a God of love, He is a God of mercy, but He is also a God of justice, and those who reject His Son the Lord Jesus Christ will spend eternity in the fires of hell. It is time for the church to wake up and for the true believers to preach the truth again.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
“He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practising evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.” (John 3: 16-21)
So if you want to argue with anyone then your argument is with God and not with us.
Much of the church today has become social clubs, entertainment centres and sadly an irrelevance to the world we live in. I myself long for a true revival and restoration of our nation and world before the great and terrible day of the Lord’s return. If you know and love the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord, Saviour and God, then one day you will hear these words: “Well done, good and faithful servant, enter into your rest.” If you are a deceiver, a false prophet, then you will hear these words: “Get behind me, you workers of iniquity, I knew you not.” Sadly, you will with “the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars” be thrown into “the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death” (Revelation 21: 8) and there will be no reprieve. But the good news is, if you repent, turn from your sin and believe that Jesus Christ was raised from the dead (Romans 10: 9), you will hear those words, “Well done” and then enter eternal bliss.
