UKIP

Long-term readers of articles on this site will recall that Grace Missions has previously commended UKIP, particularly for its opposition to same-sex ‘marriage’. In 2014, we reported that Grace Missions Director Ross Rennie would be campaigning on behalf of UKIP in the run-up to the Newark by-election. We salute UKIP for being at the forefront of the campaign for the exit of the United Kingdom from the European Union.

Recent developments have, however, prompted us to reconsider our continuing support for UKIP. The decision of UKIP’s leader Gerard Batten to appoint Tommy Robinson/Stephen Yaxley-Lennon as his adviser and what former leader Nigel Farage referred to as the party’s “fixation with the issue of Islam” have raised concerns that UKIP is drifting towards extremism. We cannot lend our approval to or be associated with these developments.

Grace Missions has always been unaligned with any one political party. We support policies that are in accordance with the principles of Scripture and oppose those that are not.
